As work-from-home was becoming the norm I tried a variety of items that made it easier to manage our life. Of all the categories of products, I liked reviewing desktop monitors and it’s not without reason. It’s an investment that is only once that’s why the monitor needs to come with the latest features, and more importantly, it should provide the best image quality within the price range.
Like laptops and smartphones, monitors are also getting more sophisticated as brands introduce the idea of entertainment monitors in order to make money from pandemic cases. The BenQ EW2880U monitor is a 28-inch high-end monitor that is not just utilized for normal work-related tasks but can also be used as an entertainment center of sorts. I have spent a few days using this 4K HDR monitor, and these are my impressions.

I can remember the days that monitors were portrayed with a certain image in people’s minds as boring and dull. This image is evolving in a way and credit must go to the companies for reimagining monitors from scratch. The BenQ EW2880U was made with the contemporary interiors of a house in the mind of. The monitor features a slim frame that surrounds the display on three sides. The lower part is a chin, where there is the HDRi sensor that senses ambient light and adjusts the display. Although it’s made out of plastic, the display has a metal-clad stand made of bronze. It can tilt forward and back and is compatible using 100mm VESA mounts. However, there’s no way to put the monitor in a vertical position.

BenQ EW2880U: Connectivity and OSD
Connectivity choices include two HDMI 2.0 ports. DisplayPort in addition to a USB-C port that is powered. I am impressed you can plug into my Chromebook via USB-C. This will also charge the notebook. Because this is advertised as an entertainment device and has a lot of ports, it the better for the consumer. The back has a small joystick controller that can be used to navigate the menu. The buttons and joystick are very responsive. The remote control is an element of the entertainment monitor that is a great feature. It has buttons that adjust the volume or turn on gaming mode. There is a range of preset options, like HDRi and Blue Light.
BenQ EW2880U: Performance and Speakers
In the course of a week, I tried the BenQ EW2880U through a variety of scenarios to be aware of whether the monitor works for me in my everyday life. The screen is huge however it is much smaller than a 32 inch LCD. However, it’s perfect for everyday use. Its 4K UHD resolution looks sharp across the 28-inch screen, though not all users consume content in ultra-high-definition. This is a monitor that comes with HDR10 support as well as an impressive contrast ratio as well as a 90 percent DCI-P3 color range. The screen is bright, and the color is good for a high-end monitor.
Be aware that this is not a premium monitor, so if you’re a graphic designer or video editor, you should consider another alternative. As a home worker for a long time, I was able to adjust to the huge-screen monitor. I connected my Chromebook or occasionally Mac mini, to my screen. The 28-inch display is perfect for internet browsing as well as office attire. Two windows side-by-side work great and the text doesn’t get too small for reading.
The monitor comes with Eye-care technology, which helps to prevent eye fatigue. I also loved the built-in ePaper mode that makes it simple to read long-form material such as e-versions from Hurricane Valley Times, or read books. If you select the e-Paper mode, it makes the display monochrome like you were reading a book using the Kindle.
The BenQ EW2880U isn’t as powerful with regards to responsiveness, as other Gaming monitors (the max refresh speed is set at 60Hz rather than 120Hz or even 144Hz) However, it does have AMD FreeSync support and a dedicated gaming mode. With high resolution and HDRi optimization, this monitor is still superior for performing AAA gaming than any normal monitor. As we mentioned at the beginning this monitor runs the HDRi tech of BenQ. A sensor is located in the bottom of the bezel which regulates the brightness of its screen. In addition, HDRi brightens dark regions without exposing bright areas. This creates more balanced images.
The EW2880U handles videos well.

4K films that play on this monitor are just as great as watching them on a 4-K UHD TV. The monitor can play a 4K video that has HDR 10 and an upscale 24P cinematic frame rate.
The speakers are among the most impressive I’ve ever observed on a monitor. They are very impressive and they can be extremely high-end, even though they lack bass. It’s true that you won’t have surround sound, but these speakers are decent for an audio monitor.
BenQ EW2880U, a 28-inch 4K HDR Entertainment monitor: Should you get it?
If you’re looking for an expensive monitor, and are willing to spend more than 30,000 rupees and above, the BenQ EW2880U seems like the ideal option. It’s not perfect, but it’s not equipped for the high-refresh rate, but it’s an excellent monitor to watch movies, create presentations, or for surfing the web. It is able to match both image quality as well as sound.
