Confirmed: Bill Murray’s Ant-Man 3 MCU Mysterious Character

Bill Murray

It’s official: Bill Murray will appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Returning to direct Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is Peyton Reed., stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly once more in the starring roles. Murray, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathryn Newton, Jonathan Majors, and others are present with them. The MCU’s next primary villain, Kang, will be played by Majors, and audiences know that Newton will replace Cassie Lang in that role. But up until now, Murray’s function has remained a mystery.

Thanks to Marvel, a hazy new synopsis and the Ant-Man 3 trailer provide audiences a hint as to expect from the movie. Beyond the plot, it also establishes some of the actors’ characters in the movie, including David Dastmalchian as Veb, Katy O’Brian as Jentorra, and Murray as Lord Krylar. When the first trailer for the third chapter debuted, many hypothesized that Murray would be playing Krylar, and those rumors have finally come to pass. See below for a summary of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania from Marvel:

Who Is Lord Krylar?

Even for fans of Marvel comics, Krylar is a little-known character because he only appeared in one book. In addition, he never made an appearance alongside Ant-Man; instead, in The Incredible Hulk #156 in 1972, he made his only appearance. Skylar was a minor figure who perished in the story and left as fast as he had come.

The Incredible Hulk #156 tells the tale of Hulk contracting to fit into the Micro-Verse, where he is returning to meet his love interest, Jarella, who lives on the tiny planet of K’ai. Instead, the warlord Visit has captured Jarella and destroyed K’ai, according to the Hulk. Skylar’s machine creates an out-of-control Hulk, a scientist working for Visit who develops a device expressing someone’s greatest nightmares.

How Lord Krylar Might Impact the Story of Ant-Man 3

The main reason Lord Krylar appears in Ant-Man 3 is probably that he exists in the Micro-Verse of the comic book. The character has an easy method to get involved in the plot because Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania looks to take place primarily in the Quantum Realm. The contraption he invented in the comic books might play a part, but considering the character’s obscurity, his involvement in the MCU might have higher stakes. A technology that manifests someone’s anxieties may make for an emotional plot point, especially with Kang boosting the stakes and Scott desiring to spend more time with his kid. Even until Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hits cinemas in February, moviegoers might not be aware of all of the movie’s mysteries due to Marvel’s secrecy.
