Green Goblin Finally Reckons With His Past Sins (Literally)

Green Goblin

The Green Goblin’s misdeeds have finally come back to punish Norman Osborn after being hinted at since the Spider-Man Beyond period. The former Spider-Man villain was transformed when the Sin-Eater stripped him of his darkness. Norman Osborn is now trying to make amends by allying with Peter Parker and relaunching a new Oscorp that aims to create a better future. He recently assumed the identity of the Gold Goblin, a new hero in his quest for atonement. But in the Marvel Universe, Norman’s metaphysical transgressions as the Green Goblin didn’t just vanish.

As seen in the brand-new Gold Goblin #2 by Christopher Cantwell and Lan Medina, Dr. Ashley Kafka confronts Norman, who hopes she may aid in his attempt to forget his past. He may have atoned for his sins, but the ghosts of the people he killed and his intense guilt still follow him. Norman was unaware that Kafka had been forcibly changed into the Queen Goblin by the Beyond Corporation, utilizing Norman’s metaphysical sins they had collected and stored in bottles for testing.

The Greatest Enemy of Spider-Man Finally Faces His Dark Sins

In The Amazing Spider-Man’s early issues, Spider-Man encountered the Queen Goblin, but he never discovered who she was. However, it appears that he forgot to inform Norman about the most recent Goblin to appear in the Marvel Universe. Norman is naturally somewhat astonished because he had no clue that his misdeeds still haunted Kafka. The Queen Goblin, determined to exact revenge on Norman for what has been done to her, is presumably hoping to return Norman’s sins as the Green Goblin to their source.

There is a startling comparison between the enemies of Spider-Man and the former Green Goblin battling during Marvel’s Dark Web adventure. Peter is fighting his dark mirror with Ben Reilly while Norman battles a dark reflection of himself that wants to undo his misdeeds and make him back into the evil he once was (aka Chasm). Like Peter, Ben seeks to recover Peter’s replicated memories that he lost by taking Spider-very Man’s soul to restore his own identity (also thanks to Beyond).

It will be intriguing to see how Norman will react to the Queen Goblin while Spider-Dark Man’s Web storyline and Gold Goblin continue. Even if Norman can avoid Kafka by the issue’s end, it won’t be long before they cross paths again. Will the Queen Goblin forgive Norman’s misdeeds? He’d very definitely revert to his former self, the Green Goblin. In any case, Gold Goblin #2 is currently available through Marvel Comics.
