How to Beat the Momentary Child (Secret Boss) in Persona 4 Golden

Persona 4 Golden

When players defeat the main boss in Persona 4 Golden‘s Marukyu Striptease castle on the final floor, a secret boss called the Momentary Child appears afterward, guarding a rare item for Teddie and a great opportunity for additional Bravery as an optional fight.

Defeating this tougher-than-average enemy requires players to utilize their Persona patiently, taking advantage of its elemental weakness to dominate its defenses.

With the right mixture of skills and resistances, the Momentary Child becomes an ordinary boss fight that players are skillfully able to overcome for great rewards.

The Momentary Child specializes in physical attacks and may punish an entire party at once with medium and moderate physical damage utilizing skills like Herculean Strike and Rampage.

Another ability of the Child is Assault Dive, which does slight Physical damage to a single target. However, players that employ Personas with Physical resistance have an advantage over others in this fight.

Small changes to the party are more than enough to obtain an advantage over the Momentary Child, who, unlike Persona 5 Royal’s secret monsters, has a defined strategy rather than a range of tools against the player.

Strategies for Beating the Momentary Child in Persona 4 Golden

Players can primarily take advantage of the Momentary Child’s weakness with the Ice element. Any skills of this nature provide extra damage and pave the way for an All-Out Attack if the boss is knocked to the ground.

Teddie and Chie, two party members, are advantageous to have on the protagonist’s side in battle because they both have access to Ice powers through their Personas. However, as the Momentary Child negates both options, players shouldn’t use Persona skills from the Light or Dark components.

The Child will occasionally be marked as “indignant” after suffering significant injury. It indicates that on its upcoming turn, the Persona 4 Golden mystery boss will use its most potent ability, Deathbound, to cause significant Physical damage to the entire party.

Most of Deathbound’s damage can be reduced by players who use the “Guard” action on their turn since it is preferable to avoid the possibility of someone in the party dying and using up an inventory item for resurrection.

The Momentary Child’s final two skills, Tarukaja and Rebellion, represent the final dangerous scenario. For three turns, the former increases the Child or one of its allies’ Attack damage. For three turns, Rebellion also increases the Child’s or an ally’s chance of getting a critical hit.

Players that want the rewarded Courage in Persona 4 Golden may want to build their strategy around the dissipation of these effects to defeat the Momentary Child in Persona 4 Golden because this renders Deathbound significantly stronger than usual.
