This time last year as the holidays were quickly approaching, everyone thought surely the global pandemic would be over by 2021. Unfortunately, much to their dismay, it’s still out there lurking in the shadows waiting to strike. In fact, there have been more deaths this year than last year, even with more than half the population having been vaccinated. Maybe we should re-think those big family get-togethers for the holiday season while seeking innovative ways to celebrate without endangering those we love. Here are some thoughts on how you can keep with family traditions without ever leaving the comfort of your home.
Schedule a Zoom Party
If you start early enough, you can schedule a Zoom room and celebrate in videoconference mode. Send out invitations via email and then set up the room you intend to connect in. Make it as festive as you can so the holiday cheer will spill over onto everyone who attends. All you need is a computer with a video cam, a reliable connection to the internet and you’re good to go. You can also make those email invitations festive as well. There are a number of sites online where you can create them for free with their platform and then email them to family and friends you’d like to invite.
The only difference is that you will be meeting in cyberspace but everyone will still be there and you can keep it going as long as you’d like. Why not do the same thing for New Year’s Eve and, as the clock hits midnight in the different time zones where your family and friends live, you can raise a glass of cheer over and over again!
No More Worry About Getting the Perfect Gift
No matter how well you know a person, you always worry about what to get them for Christmas. You know the things they like but will it be what they really want? With covid out there and an unwillingness to go into crowed stores, why not send money with a trusted app so they can buy what they’d like and even shop online with the money as well? Try the Ria Money Transfer App that arrives instantly and is present in 160 countries around the world. If you are going to send money for Christmas, why not send it so that it’s there immediately and can be used online or in a brick-and-mortar store as well?
Maybe This Is THE Year?
We really had no idea that covid would last well into the next year and still be here for the holidays. Maybe this will be THE year when we can finally say goodbye to a virus that took the world by surprise and now refuses to be gone! With a little luck and a great effort to avoid crowds, we just might see the end of it before another holiday season rolls around.
The one thing going in our favor is that we have technology at our disposal. This is something they didn’t have during the Spanish Flu of 1918 and so at least we can stay in touch with those we love even if only in cyberspace. Since there is so much that we can do to stay in touch, don’t let your spirits down and this year, Have a Very Merry Christmas.
