will give the advanced imaging Society voices for the Earth Award to producer Jon Landau and filmmaker James Cameron of “Avatar: The Way of Water.”

The Society will recognize Landau and Cameron during the 13th annual awards presentation on February 10 in Los Angeles.

“The first ‘Avatar’ by James Cameron and Jon Landau changed filmmaking technique 13 years ago,” said AIS President Jim Chabin.

It received several of our top awards, including best picture. ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ serves as a sharp reminder of how fleeting life and ecosystems are, and these film’s masters have once again wowed us with amazing narrative and characters.

We are overjoyed to recognize them and this magnificent movie for serving as “Voices for the Earth” to countless moviegoers around the globe.

The movie instills in viewers the importance of protecting and caring for the natural world’s treasures before it’s too late.

The Voices for the Earth Award honors environmental storytelling innovation and inspiration and recognizes artists who have developed a distinctive strategy for enhancing the audience’s understanding of nature and emphasizing the value of protecting the environment.

The prize will be given by Kathleen Rogers, president of Earthday.org: “The first ‘Avatar,’ directed by James Cameron, is a masterpiece of technology, human intellect, and filmmaking. Additionally, it pays homage to ecology and nature.

The movie “Avatar” explored our reliance on trees, not simply our relationship with them. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and the premiere of “Avatar,” Earthday.org teamed together with James Cameron in 2010 to plant more than one million trees in vulnerable locations worldwide.

More than ten years later, the globe is already enjoying “Avatar: The Way of Water,” a terrific movie that explores our profound spiritual links to nature.

Millions of people will be motivated to support the protection of water, the very foundation of existence for all creatures, by this incredible experience. We are honored to give this honor to a talented filmmaker with a great passion for the environment and other living things.
