In the aftermath of the devastating Oxford High School shooting, which left four people dead, other school districts in suburban Detroit will be closed on Thursday owing to fears of additional violence.
“BHS and other towns across the region have received several reports of threats of violence circulating on social media,” Bloomfield Hills School District Superintendent Pat Watson said in a warning released at 11 p.m. Wednesday.
“All BHS schools will be closed on Thursday out of an abundance of caution,” he stated, adding that the district is in communication with Bloomfield Township Police about the reports. Troy Schools, Rochester Community Schools, Brandon School District, Walled Lake Consolidated Schools, Lake Orion Community Schools, Clawson Public Schools, Warren Consolidated Schools, Hazel Park Schools, Avondale School District, West Bloomfield School District, and Lamphere Schools are among the other districts that will be closed on Thursday.
