Pakistan ready to manufacture Xiaomi phones from next Week!

According to a notice filed with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Air Link Communication Limited plans to start producing Xiaomi smartphones in Pakistan next week.

On March 4, 2022, President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi will inaugurate the company’s state-of-the-art production facility in Kot Lakhpat, Lahore, according to the official notice.

According to Air Link sources, around 3 million Xiaomi handsets will be made in the country, and the initiative will create over 3,000 direct jobs in the national market, with Xiaomi mobile sales expected to bring in more than $550 million.

Xiaomi is a global smartphone manufacturer that is ranked 334th on the Fortune Global 500 list. It surpassed Apple to become the world’s second-largest smartphone manufacturer in Q2 2021. It is currently the most popular mobile phone brand in Europe and other major markets, such as India.

“It’s a historic event for our country,” Air Link said in a statement, “where Xiaomi, one of the world’s largest smartphone companies, is kicking off production in Pakistan by joining hands with Select Technologies Private Limited, an Air Link wholly-owned subsidiary.”

“This production facility is a step forward in the direction of the Prime Minister vision of ‘Make in Pakistan,’ and will have a significant impact on Pakistan’s economy through the export of locally produced Xiaomi mobile phones,” the statement concluded.
