The date of Chris Rock’s next comedy special, which will stream live worldwide, has been confirmed by Netflix.

At 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on March 4, Selective Outrage, the comedian’s second special for the streaming service following Tamborine in 2018, will stream live. In conjunction with the news, Netflix debuted a poster and teaser video for the platform’s first-ever stand-up performance.

In the 30-second teaser, which is set to Bun B’s “The Best Is Back,” Chris Rock can be seen sitting in a dressing room and looking into the camera until a knock is heard and the words “Chris, they’re ready for ya” are spoken. The camera follows the stern-faced Rock as he enters the dressing room and emerges onto the stage, greeted by flashing lights and a yelling crowd.

According to Netflix’s VP of stand-up and comedy formats, Robbie Praw, “One of our generation’s most known and important comedic voices is Chris Rock.” We’re overjoyed that Chris Rock will do a live comedy show for the entire world and that it will go down in Netflix history. We are extremely grateful that Chris is carrying the torch because this event will be memorable.

The special might be Rock’s first major opportunity to talk about getting slapped by Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars; Rock chose not to file a complaint, but Smith was later barred from the annual Academy event for ten years after winning best actor for King Richard.

Rock hasn’t officially addressed the slap, but he has referenced it in stand-up performances he’s given across the nation over the past year.
