This weekend, Netflix will release the third season of a rom-com TV series, the sequel to a mystery film, a film version of a musical, and a prequel miniseries to a popular Netflix TV show. The streaming service added the drama film Critical Thinking, seasons 1 and 2 of The Hills, and Steven Soderbergh’s Side Effects last weekend, as well as the Christmas rom-com film I Believe in Santa, Alejandro G. Iárritu’s BARDO, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths, and the spy-adventure TV series The Recruit.
Like last week, there won’t be much licensed content added to Netflix’s collection this weekend, with the animation film Trolls, the horror film The Invitation (2022), and the love drama After Ever Happy. All eyes will be on this weekend’s original material, which includes a wide range of titles. However, Netflix customers will be able to watch a new season of Emily Cooper’s adventures in Paris, the sequel to Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, a film adaptation of a musical based on a children’s story, and a miniseries set in The Witcher universe. Here are the finest movies and TV shows available on Netflix this weekend, December 23.
Emily in Paris – season 3
Emily’s experiences and troubles in Paris continue in Season 3 of Emily in Paris. Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) has moved from Chicago to Paris for a year to lend an American perspective to the French marketing agency Savoir. She is now at a crossroads in every facet of her life. Emily will have to decide where her allegiance lies at work and in her romantic life and what those decisions mean for her future in France, all while continuing to immerse herself in the thrills and twists and turns that Paris affords.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
The highly anticipated sequel to Knives Out, directed by Rian Johnson, is now available on Netflix. Leaving the Thrombeys behind, private detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is ready to tackle a fresh mystery in a new setting. Blanc is invited by computer millionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) to a “murder mystery party” retreat on his own Greek island, Glass Onion, along with many other people in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. However, the party goes wrong, and there is a murder, which Blanc must now solve and identify the killer. Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista appear in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical – Netflix Original
Contrary to popular belief, Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical is a film adaptation of the stage musical of the same name, based on Roald Dahl’s 1988 novel Matilda, rather than a remake of the 1996 film Matilda. It follows the narrative of Matilda Wormwood (Alisha Weir), a young girl with a rich imagination and exceptional powers who takes a stand to change her story when she encounters abusive adults, most notably Miss Trunchbull (Emma Thompson), the headmistress of Matilda’s school. Lashana Lynch plays Miss Honey, Stephen Graham plays Mr. Wormwood, and Andrea Riseborough plays Mrs. Wormwood.
