The biggest twist has just occurred for Batgirl and Nightwing

Batgirl and Nightwing

A shocking twist involving Nightwing and Batgirl in the final issue of DC vs. Vampires has major ramifications and nearly assures a second chapter shortly. After the shocking revelation that Dick Grayson is the new Vampire King in this parallel DC universe, Batgirl vowed she would exact retribution on Nightwing for betraying and killing most of the Bat Family while establishing his armies of vampires as the new ruling race. The final issue, though, features a much more unexpected turn than few people expected.

The few Gotham heroes still alive who hadn’t transformed into vampires fought tooth and nail in DC vs. Vampires #12 by Matthew Rosenberg, James Tynion IV, and Otto Schmidt to bring Barbara Gordon and Harley Quinn face to face with the evil Nightwing.

Harley tries to stop Grayson from becoming Batgirl because he wants to make her his queen, but he cannot do so. Barbara offers Harley to Nightwing as a shared supper after becoming instantly corrupted. Quinn’s blood is poison, and Nightwing doesn’t realize this until after he drinks it, leading him to horrifically burn to death. Although this was exactly what Batgirl intended, her unanticipated corruption caused her to become the new Vampire Queen by the end of the series rather than rescuing the world, and she assumed Grayson’s crown.

The recent changes made by Batgirl to DC’s vampire war

Batgirl is certain that her new rule will be unchallenged now that Nightwing has been defeated. The heroes of the rest of the world will be shocked by this significant turn of events. Batgirl doesn’t spend any time establishing her dominance over her new subordinates, claiming that Nightwing is her and her lone vulnerability. Given that Batgirl claims to be the final victim of the vampire battle and is aware of the locations and strategies of the remaining heroes, a second installment of DC vs. Vampires makes sense.

But there is still some hope. Supergirl is still alive and has regained all of her power. She is determined to pierce the never-ending cloud cover the vampires built to block the sun and enable them to stalk the Earth constantly (while also weakening Kryptonians such as Kara). Similarly, Oliver Queen’s Green Arrow has been striving to free all the vampires’ human blood farms, some of the largest of which situate in Smallville. As a result, even if they must fully flee and regroup in the face of the new Vampire Queen, human resistance and their capacity to fight back will probably increase.

It would be fascinating to see where things develop in the future, at any rate. A horrible deed that should have helped rescue the world but shockingly made the vampire takeover even worse was accomplished by Batgirl when she killed Nightwing. Let’s hope DC vs. Vampires resumes soon. DC Comics is now selling issue #12 of DC vs. Vampires.
