Even with the increase in popularity of budget airlines and road-tripping, train travel remains popular for those travelling from one destination to another. Trains offer a unique, scenic option to get from Point A to Point B.
The fact is, the luxury travel market shows no signs of slowing down as it is expected to reach an all-time high of over $2000 billion in valuation by 2027.
If you are looking to elevate your travel experience with a luxurious train ride to or from any destination, consider what to look for in your train travel provider to ensure a luxurious, seamless experience.
Food and Beverage Service
Is there food and beverage service offered by the train line? While some train rides may not come with food or drink included, others offer gourmet food options and have an alcohol licence to serve alcoholic beverages.
Consider if your provider has the necessary licences and offers this service. In the state of California, for one, on-sale licenses allow for the sale and service of alcoholic beverages within a designated premise. There are 99 on-sale license types in California, and license type #53, On-Sale General Train, enables the sale and service of beer, wine, and distilled spirits to passengers of a licensed train operating in the State of California.
Although there are some industry exceptions, trains operating with an on-sale license #53 will be required by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to ensure that all employees serving alcoholic beverages to passengers receive Responsible Beverage Service training by July 1st, 2022.
With this new mandate for RBS training and certification, train employees will be required to take a responsible beverage service course to provide them with the information needed to successfully acquire RBS certification. With this mandate, travellers can rest easy knowing that their servers are trained and equipped with the knowledge and expertise to deliver a professional level of service.
Amenities
Does the train offer any amenities? Are there premium seating options, chef-developed menus, entertainment, a bar, or any wellness services like massages? It’s’ these stand-out features that will make for a more luxurious, unique travel experience.
Routes
Consider the route being taken by a train before booking your ticket as the route will impact not only the time needed to travel to your destination but the visual experience as well. There are luxury train routes built along beautiful landscapes that allow customers to enjoy views away from the congestion of bustling city centers.
One such location, with beautiful railways throughout its countryside, is California. The Napa Valley Wine train specifically runs parallel to the California coastline and is an extremely scenic route as it passes through significant beaches and state parks.
