One of the most popular tourist attractions in Dubai, desert safari certainly needs no introduction. It is an award-winning activity that is famous not only with locals but foreigners as well. Last year, upon the recommendation of my friend and seeing all the hype about this expedition, I finally reserved my seat for this trip with one of the leading desert safari trip organising companies.
To be honest, I had my reservations about this trip as I am not so fond of adventure-filled activities. Also, I didn’t exactly like the idea of the sand getting stuck in my clothes or getting a tan. However, there was no turning back as I had already booked a deal.
The experience, to put it simply, was exhilarating. It turned out to be way better than I had expected. It is nothing like I had imagined; it was entirely different, in a better way. In the end, I was longing for more as I didn’t want to leave the desert. But, as all good things come to an end, so did my desert safari trip. And I left it with a rather heavy heart and a promise to try this experience one more time during my next visit, which is scheduled to happen as soon as the situation pertaining to COVID-19 gets better.
This article addresses to all those out there like me who never wanted to have a Dubai desert safari trip. After reading this article, based on my personal experience, your entire perception is going to change. Here are some of the things you can expect during the safari trip:
Action-Packed, Straight Out of the Hollywood Movies Activities
Normally, I wouldn’t take part in any activity that involves even a little bit of adventure or action. However, during this trip, I donned the hat of an adventurer and enjoyed each and every activity that was included in the package. Even if I had to pay extra for some of them. This reminds me, you should keep some extra cash with you as it can come in handy.
Coming back to the activities/things to do at the campsite, you will find numerous options. From dune buggy drive to ATV quad bike ride, sandboarding to dune bashing and camel ride, there’s a lot to do. You wouldn’t have a single dull moment as these activities will keep you occupied throughout the trip.
Each of these activities is special and can make your trip memorable. So, my recommendation would be to take part in all of them, even if they are not included in the basic package. Pay extra for them since this is not something you are going to do every day. All these activities are absolutely safe as they are performed under expert supervision.
People from Different Companies Will Be There
When I reached the campsite, I was shocked to see so many people out there. It was then I got to know that the campsite is shared by numerous companies having their own set of visitors led by a professional guide.
A crowded campsite has both its pros and cons. It makes the entire atmosphere and ambience lively as you would see people belonging from different cultures and nationalities enjoying the Arab culture and taking part in different activities together. On the negative side, you will have to wait for your turn to try a few activities. For example, expect a long line for the camel ride.
This is one of the many things Dubai desert safari is famous for. Abundant shows and performances are arranged for guests at the campsite to keep them entertained. I, particularly, enjoyed Tanoura and fire shows. They certainly uplifted the entire experience for me. Other than that, the performance of belly dancers was also entertaining.
Another thing I enjoyed the most here was the lavish BBQ dinner arranged at the campsite. I will never forget the authentic Arab taste. The meal started with appetisers, followed by the main course and ended with delicious desserts. The entire bonfire experience in the middle of the desert is alone worth taking this trip again.
The long and short of this article is that desert safari Dubai is a must-have experience at least once in your life. Add it to your “things to do” list and make sure you’re ticking it off. The experience of exploring the beauty of the desert is going to stay with you for a long, long time. Having said that, your experience is going to majorly depend on the package and deal you have selected. For the former, my recommendation would be to get an advanced or VIP/elite package. You will have a comfortable and convenient journey with all the amenities and facilities. And when it comes to deals, evening or overnight one makes for a better choice.
