Working in the real estate industry during the COVID pandemic

Real estate was becoming a booming industry with the markets starting to open up. There were massive changes that most people and companies had to get through during the pandemic. Most of them were re-working structures and other changes that they could adapt to during the pandemic. They had to make sure that people were not meeting one another in person because that could be a challenge and lead to the faster spread of the virus.

While many companies could easily make the change, some found it challenging because of the nature of their work. Companies in the IT sector, who could move to a remote model, were making the change and while it was taking some time for everyone to adjust to it, they were getting through. Industries like construction, real estate, hospitality, or even essential services and medical assistance had to get as much as they could, done in person which was quite a challenge.

Most companies were finding ways to make the process a lot easier and they were working with some of their clients to get through. They created ways that people could check out a house remotely but for the most part, no one wanted to make one of the largest purchases of their lives without seeing the house. Additionally, we created faster ways of working on paperwork online which worked like a charm and we would work with clients to get through processes but for the most part, we were forced to follow the rules that were put down and make changes accordingly. The lockdowns and curfews were quite challenging when we were trying to run a company because we had to keep rescheduling our meetings.

What were the changes that were taking place in the real estate sector?

While some could move to remote working with ease, most businesses were unsure about the future and were making some changes that led to a lot of their staff is out of work. With massive changes and uncertainty about the future, people did not want to take large risks and they are also being a lot more conservative about all that was happening.

A majority of people were not making purchases like they were in the past. They were working on their essentials and moving through. Most people were even downgrading out of the city and moving back to the suburbs because they did not have to come into work anymore and we’re getting everything done remotely.

According to the Financial Times, most of the tech companies were still hiring as they started taking advantage of the giant vacuum caused by most companies slowing down and turning to online solutions. They also found themselves in a weird position where they were scaling because most companies were looking for software solutions that allowed them to grow. The pandemic also created more than 20% of new internet users which was a massive blessing for all companies who were working on IT solutions or an online presence. The world was moving faster and faster to digital as a result of the coronavirus, despite mass lay-offs elsewhere and growing concerns over plummeting global markets. People handing work, client, and internal meetings online were the new normal, although that wasn’t seen in the past. Many startups were considering working remotely long before the pandemic, and they took the step, while others were trying to push this move to a later date. With the pandemic, most had to begin, as soon as possible. There are some industries, like hospitality, healthcare, mechanics, and even construction that might consider moving online but they just cannot. Although parts of their jobs can be automated, the bulk has to be completed, in person.

What were the changes that everyone was seeing?

With so much happening on the internet, companies had to change some of their processes if they were looking to hire. Employers are unsure about how they are planning on working with their teams. They were not meeting the people they were bringing in and had to make sure that they would work well with their already existing teams. Ideally, there are instances where they are working with a team but had not met the majority of the team in person, so they had to start handling background checks.

There were instances where the employer and the HR department were unsure whether they would be able to meet the person they were bringing in or if they were doing it through virtual meetings only. While background checks on the entire team, to make sure people working in companies had not gone to prison, were getting in common, most employers turned to the DBS check. This was the most popular check that allowed employers to see the past of their employees or prospective employees. However, the best part about it was that people could not go through the DBS check online, which allowed them to get through the process without having to leave their office.

There was a range of people who were finding it challenging to get through processes and they were unsure about how they would get through. There were many offices and departments that they had to get through if they wanted to get their details. However, with online background checks, people started finding faster methods to get through the process and they were a lot easier. They just had to make sure that they knew what they wanted and how they were going to get through. Different positions at most companies had varying requirements and everyone had to make sure that they knew what they were getting into and that it was relevant to the profession that they were working with.

With doctors working with everyone, they had to make sure that they received an enhanced background check through website. The check made sure that they did not have any prior records where they were treating people who were either too young or much older unfairly.
