Many people have a dream of moving to the Southern United States. The warmth of the summer heat and the beauty of the scenery are enough reasons for some to make the move. But is it really worth it to live in North or South Carolina? Let’s examine the positives and negatives of each so you can make the right decision for yourself.
Northern Exposure
If you’re an outdoorsy type of person who loves to be out in the fresh air, then North Carolina is the place for you. The scenery is beautiful, with plenty of forests, mountains, and lakes. If you love being surrounded by nature, then this is the place for you. However, if you’re looking for big cities with lots of amenities, then you might want to consider South Carolina instead.
The downside is that since it is so far north, the winters can be bleak. In fact, the climate is so harsh that buildings often need to be insulated to keep the heat in and the cold out. The other downside to this location is that most people living here are very friendly, which can make it a little dull sometimes. There’s not a whole lot of diversity, either, which can be a downer if you’re looking for some excitement in your life.
A Different Sort Of Summer
If you love traveling during the summer, then North Carolina is the place to be. The temperatures are typically very high, so you’ll be able to travel a lot in the warm months. But what if you don’t want to spend the whole summer traveling? If you decide to stay in one place during the summer, North Carolina offers a different sort of summer. Overnight stays are common due to the frequent thunderstorms that cause power outages, so staying in can offer some excitement. During the day, the heat can be very exhausting, so going outside to enjoy the sunshine is a great way to make the most of the day. This sort of environment forces you to stay active, as there’s always something to do outside. Whether you love to camp, hike, ride bikes, or just want to sit in the sunshine, North Carolina offers it all. In the summer of 2020, it rained almost every day, so there was definitely something to do indoors, too!
The downside to this location is that it can be a little slow in the summer. There aren’t a lot of jobs, so if you’re looking for work, you might have to look elsewhere. But what if you don’t want to work in a typical cubicle setup? You can look for jobs online or even work from home, which is great if you want to stay connected to your family without having to be tied to a desk. Even still, the cost of living is very high, so make sure you’re prepared to pay for all the things you need, especially since most services aren’t cheap. For example, cable TV is quite expensive and doesn’t come with basic cable in most cases, so you might want to consider investing in a TV antenna.
A Great Place To Visit
Out of all the places we wanted to examine, this is the one we spent the most time in. We visited South Carolina back in August of 2019 and were not disappointed. The temperatures were warm but not overwhelming, and the beaches were beautiful. There were lots of places for us to explore, and we even found some great restaurants and bars. Our favorite part of the trip was definitely the beaches. When we got back from our trip, we already started thinking about moving there. Unfortunately, the place we stayed had no pool, which we really wanted to enjoy. And since it’s such a popular location, finding a decent pool became very difficult. But other than that, we loved the whole state.
The downside to this location is that there aren’t a lot of jobs, so if you’re looking for work, you might have to look elsewhere. But aside from that, North Carolina and South Carolina are both very beautiful states, and if you’re lucky enough to live there, you’ll be able to enjoy both locations. There’s a great deal of opportunity in both states, so if you’re looking for work, make sure you research the local economy and the job prospects.
Home To Entertainment
If you love to spend your free time watching movies and TV shows, then North Carolina is the place to be. It’s a great location for entertainment, with lots of movie theaters and lots of TV shows available. If you live in a rural area, you’ll be able to enjoy the great outdoors and all the nature that comes with it, while also being close to all the amazing television shows and movies that the industry has to offer. The downside to this location is that since it is such a popular location and lots of people live here, finding a decent movie theater can be difficult. But other than that, if you’re looking for entertainment, North Carolina has it in spades.
Overall, we think that North Carolina is a great location for those who want to live a quiet life. If you don’t mind the cold weather and want to be around people your own age, then this is the location for you. If you want to live in a place where the temperatures are always high, then South Carolina might be the place for you. Make sure you do your research before committing to either one of these locations, though, as there’s a lot to consider.
