Screen Rant proudly presents a clip from the new drama Devil’s Peak. Established in the Appalachian Mountains, this tense nail-biter from Screen Media follows the son of an unjust and damaging drug lord.
When he meets the girl of his dreams, he eventually finds a reason to try and flee from under his dad’s shade before following in his foul footsteps. But he won’t escape unharmed and will need to encounter his father face-to-face, and the fearsome patriarch will stop at zero to force loyalty from everyone about him.
Devil’s Peak is founded on David Joy’s first novel, Where All Light Tends to Go. The fiction was a finalist for the Edgar Award for Best First Novel. Devil’s Peak hits theatres on February 17 and will be available on request on February 24.
More About Devil’s Peak
Screen Rant’s entire clip from Devil’s Peak features Billy Bob Thornton & Hopper Pen (the son of Robin Wright & Sean Penn).
Thornton is the sinister drug lord, while Penn is his son, seen in the snare of his father’s anticipations.
The father (Thornton) lights up a cigarette and transmits a memory of his grandfather being captured during one of his speeches and dragged through the church full of his community. He describes that this compelled his grandfather to party & lose his place in the church.
Devil’s Peak also claims that the sheriff who apprehended him was beaten and later discovered dead in a ditch.
He then describes how he found his father was the one who murdered the sheriff to avenge his grandfather’s disgrace.
Thornton’s figure concludes his narrative with the ominous lesson that they did not select their way of life, but they must honour and be faithful to it until the day they die, just as his father did. The dramatic scenario establishes the struggle between father and son as the next generation attempts to escape this ostensibly preset destiny when he discovers love.
Ben Young directs Devil’s Peak. Robin Wright, Billy Bob Thornton, Jackie Earle Haley, Katelyn Nacon, Brian d’Arcy James, Emma Booth, and Hopper Penn feature in Devil’s Peak. Screen Media is in charge of distributing Devil’s Peak.
