Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida has expressed his support for a measure that would make it illegal to address sexual orientation and gender identity in Florida’s elementary schools.
When asked about gender identity by reporters at a Miami event on Monday, he said it was “completely inappropriate” for teachers to have conversations with students about it, citing examples such as teachers telling children, “Do not worry, do not pick your gender yet,” and “hiding” classroom lessons from parents.
