James Gunn and Peter Safran abandoned previous concepts to shake up the DC Universe, including Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 and Henry Cavill’s return as Superman.
According to many fans, Gal Gadot may have been “booted” from DC after the Wonder Woman 3 movie was canceled. Gunn did offer some clarification regarding Gadot and her present position, though.
I’m not sure where you’re getting that we ‘booted’ Gal, Gunn retorted.
Gunn’s remark may be read in one of two ways: either Gadot is still working with DC for a future appearance as Wonder Woman, or else Gadot quit DC on her initiative during the upheaval.
The new DC leadership rejected Jenkins‘ Wonder Woman 3 treatment because it did not align with what Gunn and Safran had in mind for the DC Universe.
“Just I never turned around. was ready to comply with whatever demands were made of me. I thought there was nothing I could do to move on. I recognize that these choices are challenging at the moment since DC is overwhelmed with adjustments that must be made, Jenkins said in a statement.
Before it was revealed that Jenkins would not be directing Wonder Woman 3, Gadot posted a message of hope about sharing the “next chapter” of the superhero with fans.
“Several years ago, it was revealed that I would be playing Wonder Woman.
More than everything, I’m grateful to YOU for giving me a chance to play such an amazing, well-known role. The admirers Gadot posted on social media that she was eager to share with her followers the next chapter.
As the DC Universe takes a new turn, Gunn has received a lot of criticism for his decisions. In a series of tweets, the Suicide Squad director called out the “disrespectful outburst” from fans.
“We base our choices for the DC Universe on what we believe to be best for the story and best for the DC characters, who have been around for almost 85 years.
These decisions may or may not be excellent, but they are done with sincerity, integrity, and a constant focus on the narrative, he tweeted.
We anticipated there would be turbulence when we accepted this job, and we knew we occasionally would have to make challenging and unconventional decisions, particularly in light of the contentious nature of what was before us, Gunn continued.
