The oldest child of Thailand’s king, Princess Bajrakitiyabha, passed out while working with her dogs due to a medical problem.
The 44-year-old princess, regarded as following her younger brother in line for the throne, was taken to a local hospital in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima on Wednesday with a heart condition before being transported by helicopter to Bangkok.
According to the statement, Bajrakitiyabha had fallen and passed out while exercising with her dogs.
The news of her critical illness enthralled the southeast Asian country.
Bajrakitiyabha, born in 1978, is the sole offspring of King Vajiralongkorn’s ill-fated first marriage, which was arranged by dynastic maneuvering. Princess Soamsowali, her mother, was a relative of Vajiralongkorn’s mother.
Bajrakitiyabha, the oldest child, has been mentioned as a prospective Vajiralongkorn replacement. However, her 17-year-old half-brother Prince Dipangkorn continues to be the most likely heir.
Bajrakitiyabha worked as Thailand’s ambassador to Austria while pursuing studies in law and international relations. She has also held a high rank in the Royal Security Command and worked for the attorney general’s office.
A well-known equestrian enthusiast, Bajrakitiyabha has frequently presided over The Princess Cup, the biggest annual equestrian competition in the nation.
