Minnie Driver may be entering the “The Witcher” universe at a moment when some fans are furious, but she is unconcerned.
On Christmas Day, Drive will appear as Sencha, a shape-shifting time-traveling storyteller, in the four-episode prequel to the Netflix series “The Witcher: Blood Origin.” Future seasons in the main “Witcher” world, where Henry Cavill makes his final appearance before being replaced by Liam Hemsworth in Season 3, may also feature the character. Driver, though, needs clarification on the controversy around the recasting.
Driver recently said to EW, “We come from this tradition of ‘Doctor Who,’ where the Doctor regenerates.
“I believe we should view it much more positively, as amazing. It’s a fantastic character and individual, and we should cast various actors to play them.
The Driver also mentioned that she hasn’t spoken to Cavill about their “Witcher” connection, but they have a history together. The Driver has known Cavill since he was a young adult, and they both attended the same school as her brother. She uttered, “I adore him.” I can confirm that he has been the most adorable person ever since he was a young guy. He is a god.
What Search has planned for “The Witcher: Blood Origin” is that Driver will only appear at the prequel’s start and end, even if she narrates all four of the episodes.
