Top Gun: Maverick is included on Barack Obama’s 2022 list of motion pictures, including his top albums and books.
It is the fifth year that Obama has shared his end-of-year rankings. Fans eagerly anticipate seeing which works make Obama’s annual top ten list and frequently use it to guide what they should watch, listen to, or read for themselves.
Obama has given high acclaim to various films on previous lists, including the historical movie Judas and the Black Messiah and Prime Video’s horrifying superhero parody graphic novel The Boys adaptation.

In 1986, the original Top Gun movie was produced and was considered a cult masterpiece. Top Gun: Maverick is slowly accruing nominations as the awards season gets underway and has already won The National Board of Review’s Best Film Award. A feat that has yet to be accomplished since before the pandemic, the movie reinvigorated the box office by drawing viewers to theatres and generating $1.49 billion in revenue.
