Apple gave out about (roughly around Rs. 4,43,300 crore) $60 billion to developers in 2021, Apple disclosed in its most recent App Store data. The latest figures reveal an increase in money given to developers as compared to previous years. This is in response to Apple’s decision to lower the number of commissions paid to smaller developers. Apple also announced that users had been spending “more than ever” on the App Store between Christmas Eve through New Year’s Eve without disclosing the total spend of all customers during the time.
The Cupertino-based firm announced that developers had generated more than 260 billion dollars in the time since App Store was introduced in 2008. This is an increase of about $60 billion (roughly around Rs. 4,43,300 crore) since Apple first announced the figures last year. Apple regularly updates its lists of the top downloaded games and apps available on its App Store. In January of 2018, Apple announced that developers earned $86 billion (roughly the equivalent of Rs. 6,35,400 crore) since the App Store launched in January, which indicates that the number has increased by more than $170 billion (roughly around Rs. 12,56,000 crore) in the last four years.
