Meowscarada, the Grass-type starter Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s last evolution, should not be disregarded for Ranked Battles during VGC Series 1. With its high-speed stat, tactical Abilities, and signature move Flower Trick, it is one of the strongest choices for physical attacking sweepers this season. Meowscarada can also significantly harm the opposing side in a Ranked Battle when partnered with the appropriate partners, such as Murkrow. Additionally, due to its massive critical strikes that obliterate defenses, Meowscarada is one of the finest Pokémon to combat the overused duo of Dondozo and Tatsugiri.
Sprigatito, which first appears in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, evolves into Meowscarada near the end of the game. Unfortunately, there are no documented breakouts because they are regarded as “rare” Pokémon, like most starting Pokémon. Sprigatito can also be obtained through trading or hatching eggs for it, in addition to being able to select it as your first Pokémon. Sprigatito needs to be leveled up to 16, transformed into a Floragato, reached level 36, and mature into Meowscarada.
The best Meowscarada skills
In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Meowscarada destroys with its Hidden Ability, Protean, and performs admirably with its characteristic beginning ability, Overgrow. It’s difficult to choose between these two skills, yet they both need a distinct approach to gameplay. When equipped with a Focus Sash, Overgrow can be used to Meowscarada’s benefit because it “powers up Grass-type attacks when the Pokémon’s HP is low.” Additionally, starting a Grass-Tera Type increases the power of its signature move, Flower Trick, by 4x and increases the critical hit rate by 100%.
However, remember that if a Priority Move like Extreme Speed is not interrupted, Meowscarada will finish abruptly. Invest in a Speed Build with Jolly Nature for Protean to quickly alter its type, removing its 4x vulnerability to movements of the Bug-type. Along with changing its weaknesses, this ability also gives it new STAB moves and functions similarly to terastillization.
Meowscarada’s top teammates
Meowscarada performs best in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Ranked Battles when paired with partners who can mitigate its vulnerabilities as a physical attacker. Meowscarada is the eighth most popular Pokémon, according to Pikalytics, and has Special Attackers Gholdengo, Hydreigon, and Armarouge as partners. These Pokémon also benefit from aggressive play styles, particularly when paired with a Tailwind facilitator like Talonflame or Murkrow, which raises the team’s overall Speed. Last but not least, using a defensive Pokémon like Grimmsnarl to set up Reflect and Light Screen allows Meowscarada to stay alive longer and deal more critical hits to its foes.
Tips For Combating Meowscarada
It can be incredibly challenging to defeat Meowscarada in Pokémon Scarlet, and Violet Ranked Battles because of the guaranteed critical hits from its signature move, Flower Trick. However, think about adjusting the Priority Bracket when Pokémon perform their techniques to prevent Meowscarada from entire sweeping teams. People that employ Trick Rooms, such as Indeed and one of Pokémon Scarlet’s unique Pokémon Oranguru, can quickly stop a Meowscarada’s Speed. Be warned, though, that if a taunt or imprisonment isn’t set up beforehand, a Trick Room Meowscarada could change the game’s outcome back at the initial enabler, turning the tide of the battle. If so, the next best course of action is to apply a status condition on Meowscarada, such as Sleep or Paralysis.
