As youngsters pass out of college, many of them settle for campus placements. But there are a few who desire to do something of their own. Such people are often told that they are risking their careers and that situations might not turn out as they expect. Entrepreneurship indeed is not an easy journey to undertake, but it is surely worth the time as it gives you an opportunity to chase your own dreams rather than help others to fulfill theirs. If executed with a calculative risk and consistent efforts, an individual can grow a fruitful fruit out of his imagination backed with innovation. One such example is Filip Boka, who ventured out at an early age, dropping out of his college and taking the required risk to execute his plans.
His entrepreneurial journey serves as a message to all that to achieve something big in life, one ought to take risks and give it their all. Filip started out helping his father in their carpeting business, only to realize his passion lay somewhere else. This was when, in conversation with one of his friends, Boka launched a cleaning service in Chicago under the name of King of Maids. With a combined investment of just over $6,000, the company generated $5,000,000 in just a matter of three years. Thereafter, Filip saw another dream of launching a platform to grow a service business. He named it BookingKoala with Vivek Prajapati, which he started as a bootstrapped initiative with the aim of making it a unicorn a few years down the line.
Boka shares that he performed every menial task himself to see his business grow. He even sacrificed his yearly vacations and his personal relationships. It was only after Filip accomplished all the goals that he came back to enjoying life and, soon after, married the love of his life, who is managing King of Maids today.
Speaking from his experiences, Filip says that “The best thing you can do is to start. In almost all cases, the final outcome will come after trial and error, and what you envisioned before you started will be completely different at the end of your journey.” That means you will never be ready until you go through the process. On that note, he advises budding entrepreneurs to take the help of social media to market their businesses and increase their client base. “It just goes to show you that if you keep on working hard, doors will open themselves up for you,” adds Filip.
