A new beautiful fan art makes a case for Jensen Ackles to play X-Cyclops Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ackles has been a hot name for casting speculation on superhero movies and TV shows after acting in many famous projects over the years (including Smallville, Supernatural, and The Boys).
The actor has a long experience with both Marvel and DC but has yet to play a live-action superhero from one of the Big Two comic book publishers, which the fan art says may change with the X-Men Cyclops.
Digital artist 21XFOUR published a convincing image of Ackles as the MCU’s Cyclops.
While the real X-Men entrance in the MCU appears to be at least a few years away, Marvel Comics mutants are already steadily making their way into the film franchise.
Namor and Kamala Khan (an Inhuman in the comics) are the MCU’s first mutants, and legendary Fox X-Men franchise characters such as Professor Charles Xavier, Deadpool, and Wolverine have either debuted or are set to appear in-universe in the coming years. Ackles entering the MCU as its original version of Cyclops would continue the mutant theme.
Jensen Ackles’ Long History of Playing Superheroes
Ackles has worked for both DC and Marvel. Ackles almost played Superman in Smallville for DC. The actor was cast as Jason Teague in the series, while Tom Welling was cast as Clark Kent, but the role was supposedly split between the two actors.
Ackles has not appeared in any DC live-action ventures since then, but he has played memorable roles in several animated films. Ackles is the Batman of DC’s animated Tomorrowverse, which began with the two-parter Batman: The Long Halloween.
Regarding Marvel, Ackles has yet to land a role, but the actor has been linked to a couple of high-profile heroes throughout the years. Ackles was reportedly offered the role of Hawkeye in the MCU, and the actor also stated at a convention that he was in talks with Fox to play Deadpool before Ryan Reynolds was cast.
The actor’s commitment to the TV show Supernatural, which ran for 15 seasons and ended in 2020, was the largest obstacle to his casting in both the MCU and Fox’s X-Men universes. The actor now has a clean slate to play a DC or Marvel character in live-action, and the X-upcoming Men’s appearance in the MCU could help him with that.
How Could The X-Men Join The MCU?
Professor Charles Xavier, Wolverine, Deadpool, and even Evan Peters’ Quicksilver (in part) have transitioned to the MCU, indicating a shift in Marvel Studios.
The Multiverse Saga will conclude with Avengers: Secret Wars, which might kick off the MCU’s next mutant chapter. Some Fox characters may appear in the film to assist the Avengers and other heroes from Marvel’s live-action cinematic history. Then, at the end of the film, Marvel might give a reason for the X-Men to appear in the MCU, with numerous Earths crashing into one being a possible outcome.
