How Columbo inspired Poker Face
Few TV detectives have been as influential as Lt. Columbo. The dishevelled, cigar-chomping sleuth was the brains behind some of the most memorable cases on television. He was also the inspiration for one of the most popular songs of the past decade.
In 2009, Lady Gaga released “Poker Face,” a catchy pop song about a woman playing hard to get. The lyrics make numerous references to Columbo, including lines like “I wanna roll with him a hard pair we will be” and “He’s got me like nobody.”
It’s clear that Lady Gaga is a big fan of Columbo, and she said that the character inspired the song. She has even performed the song in costume as Columbo.
So if you’re ever feeling Poker Faced, just remember that you’re not alone… Lt. Columbo would approve.
Will There Be A Season 2 Of Poker Face?
It’s been nearly two years since the first season of Poker Face aired on NBC, and fans are still waiting for news about a second season. The show was a rating success, averaging 8 million viewers per episode, and its star Natasha Lyonne is one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood.
So what’s the hold-up? Unfortunately, Poker Face may have been cancelled due to low ratings. The show’s producer, Dick Wolf, said he would like to see a second season, but it doesn’t seem likely at this point.
