He said that once the police have the situation fully under control, the plan will move to figure out how to properly reopen the roadway to the bridge. A spokesperson for the Canada Border Services Agency said it was “working collaboratively with law enforcement partners to restore normal border operations at affected ports of entry as quickly as possible.

He said that once the police have the situation fully under control, the plan will move to figure out how to properly reopen the roadway to the bridge. A spokesperson for the Canada Border Services Agency said it was “working collaboratively with law enforcement partners to restore normal border operations at affected ports of entry as quickly as possible.”

Police make some arrests

A group of protesters opposing COVID-19 public health measures, including vaccine mandates, has been at the bridge since Monday, blocking what is typically Canada’s busiest border crossing. On Friday, the chief justice of the Ontario Superior Court granted an injunction ordering the protesters to clear the bridge by 7 p.m. that night. Fewer than 30 protesters were there Sunday morning. He stated that once authorities get the issue under control, the focus would go to determining how to properly restore the bridge’s roadway.

“We are working cooperatively with law enforcement partners to restore regular border operations at affected ports of entry as fast as possible,” a spokeswoman for the Canada Border Services Agency said.

However, several people were arrested, including the drivers of a couple of pickup vehicles that had been parked on the side of the road.

As he was being detained, one guy informed reporters, “It is what it is.” “We came here for our freedom, and we got it.”

As he was carried out of his truck and placed in shackles, the man offered no resistance.

He informed cops, “Trust me, I am not going to fight you.”

Hundreds of cops formed a line across Huron Church Road at 7:45 a.m., and minutes later, they began their steady advance, warning everyone protestors and the media to step back or risk arrest. The Windsor Police Service announced further arrests on Twitter early Sunday morning.
