Karnataka on Tuesday projected itself as the Electric Vehicle (EV) capital of India and the best site to create a manufacturing plant, joining a growing number of Indian states that are attempting to persuade Tesla’s billionaire CEO and inventor Elon Musk to establish an industrial unit.
Several Indian states have already encouraged Musk to set up shop, including Telangana, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu.
Karnataka has emerged as India’s EV hub, with over 400 R&D facilities, 45+ EV startup companies, and an EV cluster near to Bengaluru. Mr. Elonmusk, Karnataka could be an excellent location for a Tesla facility. Murugesh R Nirani, Karnataka’s Minister for Medium and Large-scale Industries, tweeted that Bengaluru was already Tesla’s first location in India.
